Zone 34 was not heard on the bands, but there was an active operator there. Andrey, RW3AH,was in Egypt on business, but could not obtain a local license. He operated a remote station via the Internet and made over 1700 contacts from New York using the call sign KL1A/2. Even though he sent zone 5, that call caused lots of confusion on the bands, as people thought they might be working Alaska. It is somewhat ironic that the elusive missing zone 34 was active, but with RF  emanating from far away in zone 5.
