Just, for example, analyze its rear panel, which offers a vast range of connections and functions, embodying the complexity and power that underlie this extraordinary technological solution.
With an internal structure centered around a latest generation FPGA, OL-SDR stands out for unprecedented versatility and control. This ability for extreme adaptability and operational precision positions it as a versatile transceiver in a diverse range of high-demand operational contexts, where the need for performance at the edge is paramount.
Its internal architecture and advanced external interface are designed to meet the most demanding needs of the most sophisticated operators. OL-SDR presents itself as an ideal option for those who require maximum customization and flexibility, offering a level of functionality adaptable to a wide range of specialized applications.
OVERVIEW:
OL-SDR is a direct sampling transceiver that exploits the latest signal processing technologies thanks to the use of a powerful FPGA. A sophisticated RTX designed to offer endless expansion opportunities and fast signal processing.
In fact, OL-SDR offers:
TWO HARDWARE CHANNELS: it is equipped with two independent hardware channels, each with dedicated ADC, band filters, attenuator and preamplifier .
The OL-SDR RF signal chain uses 8 data streams, each with dedicated DSP allowing it to cover the HF range from 160 to 6 meters in all operating modes.
EIGHT INDEPENDENT RECEPTION FREQUENCIES: in this way the most demanding OM will be able to operate simultaneously on four independent windows , monitoring, from each window, not only a main receiver, but also a Sub-receiver for a total of 8 independent reception frequencies , each with IF and RIT settable and released from the relevant main receiver.
FOUR ADDRESSABLE ANTENNAS: the four antenna connectors on the rear panel allow you to address as many antennas and switch them from time to time, based on a matrix pre-defined by the user which will direct them towards each RTX window depending on the selected range.
The intuitive OL-Master control software allows the execution of all the main functions (both in RX and TX) with a simple click, without the use of sub-menus or drop-downs, in order to adapt to each operating context with maximum immediacy, ease and speed.
CONNECTIONS FOR ALL NEEDS: in addition to the four antennas, the rear panel offers a wide range of I/Os to best adapt to all operational needs: interface for controlling an external amplifier, relay driving, input for synchronization with GPS signal, internal reference clock output for synchronization of other devices, direct RF input, audio Line-IN / Line-OUT, RF inputs and outputs for connection to future VHF/UHF/SHF transverters, analog and digital outputs and inputs for the control of the latter and for future accessories. All functions can be configured in the relevant Setup menus depending on the frequency and RX and/or TX in use.
UPDATEABLE: via the Ethernet connection it is possible to update the firmware to keep it updatedOL-SDR to the latest version, to take advantage of all the innovations (algorithms and functions) that will be released from time to time. There is also an emergency image to still perform the update if the main mode is not successful for any reason (for example connection problems, electrical blackouts,…) avoiding finding yourself with a device unusable.
SEMI-BREAK-IN on 4 INPUTS : operating in CW, you will have 4 independent and configurable inputs for SEMI-BREAK-IN operations on each transmitting section, without any delay in data processing.
DIRECT SAMPLING: direct sampling technology produces an ultra-flat passband response for clean audio in RX and TX, audio that can be adapted to the ways and preferences of radio use with the aid of separate equalizers for RX and TX, easy to adjust.
Always with the aim of improving the listening experience, the standard DSP functions also include a mixer for the audio coming from the various RXs, a multiple Notch with memory, noise reducers and noise suppressors and independent squelch for each RX.
8 AUDIO AND SPECTRUM RECORDER: a powerful Recorder is also available which can simultaneously record from each RX in use either the audio signal of the RX and the sub-RX, or the entire available RF spectrum (up to 1.5MHz per receiver ). In this last mode, during playback, it will be possible to tune in and listen to any station present in the spectrum, allowing the replay of signals that otherwise would not have been reachable.
PURE SIGNAL: the DSP also includes the Pure Signal* algorithm, to compensate for the distortions inevitably introduced by the TX amplifiers and consequently drastically reduce the intermodulation products for a more incisive signal in the band and cleaner on the neighboring frequencies ( significant reduction in splatters).
* Pure Signal: adaptive linearization of pre-distortion designed by Warren Pratt, NR0V

Characteristics:
OL-SDR is supplied with extremely advanced management software.
In addition to the normal management operations, typical of the most advanced SDRs on the market, OL-MasterLAB offers a series of functions that were previously unimaginable with normal SDR devices:
Pana-Spectrum DISPLAY
In addition to the usual Panadapter, Waterfall, Spectrum and Scope displays , it is possible to simultaneously view both the total spectrum received (wideband Panadpter in the upper part), captured before each processing (filters, notches, agc, …), and the audio spectrum after each local processing (filters, notches , agc, ….) (Spectrum at the bottom). It is thus possible to have under control and optimize both the reception of the tuned station and simultaneously monitor the entire spectrum.
MULTI NOTCH FILTER
It will be possible to define an unlimited number of notches, simply by clicking the right mouse button on the signal to be eliminated, operating indifferently from the Panadapter window or from the Spectrum window or from the PanaSpectrum.
INTELLIGENT SPLIT
It will be possible to open up to 4 independent windows on 4 different ShortWave spectrum portions and, within each window, also activate a secondary receiver (sub-receiver).
Each frequency used by each receiver and sub-receiver can be selected with one click as the transmission frequency, thus going beyond the common definition of Split Operation.
CONFIGURATION MEMORY
Each time you change bands, more than 50 parameters are automatically stored (including frequencies, Panadapter, Spectrum and Waterfall display settings, filters, modes, DSP functions, Meter settings, AGC etc. etc.) which will be recalled when returning to band so that the operator can use the previous settings.
SAFETY MEMORY
All these settings are permanently saved when OlliterSDR is closed. In the configuration database, the last 9 configurations remain present, to allow, in the case of configuration errors or in the case of a PC crash, to be able to recover a consistent version of the configuration.
FULL SPECTRUM RECORDER
When the Recorder function is activated, either the audio signal of each active primary receiver or the RF signal relating to the entire spectrum received in each active RX window can be recorded. In the case of recording the entire spectrum, it will be possible to tune in any signal present in the band, thus allowing previously unheard stations to be reached.
QUICK MEMORY
Each RX window is equipped with a memory to save the settings of a station of interest. Both saving and restoring occur with just one click. The saved settings are permanent and are stored in the configuration database to be usable when OlliterSDR is turned on again.
