The Heil Pro Set Elite series offers highly efficient speakers mounted in acoustically-tuned enclosures, to provide a very high degree of (passive) outside noise rejection. The Pro Set Elite includes Heil Sound’s exclusive Phase Reversal system, which allows the operator to put the incoming signals in and out of phase between the left and right ears, yielding on-the-fly creation of spatial separation of signals in dynamic pile-up situations on today’s crowded bands.
The Pro Set Elite’s headphones fold-up for easy transportation and storage, and the Pro Set Elite is unbelievably light in weight and comfortable. They are ideal for long operating sessions. The Pro Set Elite’s ear cushions are field-replaceable, and they come with washable cotton covers.
The Pro Set Elite includes a six-foot coiled cable, which terminates in two plugs: one is a 1/8″ (3.5 mm) stereo, which is the headphone plug (a ?” adapter is supplied). The other plug is a 1/8″ mono plug, which carries the microphone signal. Therefore, the Pro Set Elite will interface to the current “AD-1” line of adapter cables (which are required and are sold separately). The PSE-6 requires the appropriate AD-1 adapter. See table below.
The PSE-6 Pro Set Elite 6 utilizes the HC-6 mic element. The HC-6 is a full-range element, with the -3 dB points at 100 Hz on the low side and 12.5 kHz on the high side, but additionally with a rise of +6 dB in the 2000-3000 Hz range to enhance articulation on SSB circuits (or during noisy sportscasting applications). The HC-6 element sounds beautiful on its own, but it also lends itself to the “equalization” features found on many modern DSP-based transceivers.
The PSE-ic Pro Set Elite iC utilizes Heil’s exclusive “iC” electret condenser element, with the higher output that is so important on many (mostly earlier) Icom transceivers. The -3 dB points on the “iC” element are at 80 Hz and 12.5 kHz, and the “iC” element does not have the pronounced rise above 2000 Hz. The “iC” element requires +5 Volts of DC to power the condenser element. The Pro Set Elite iC includes the AD-1-iC adapter cable for the Icom radios with 8-pin round microphone jacks.
