From Roger, G3SXW (24th April): Sorry to report that Vince Thompson, K5VT, died this afternoon, 24th April. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (M5) four weeks ago but did not survive the chemotherapy. He was a fit, strong 67 years of age. A sad, sad day.
Very sad, and horribly ironic given that Vince was a renowned oncological surgeon. He worked so very hard to extend the lives of his patients. To be struck down by the very disease he fought so hard to overcome in others is terrible.
The ham fraternity has lost one of its icons.
