About Ham Radio Deluxe

What is Ham Radio Deluxe?

Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) is an integrated suite of software products for amateur radio. The five modules in the suite provide rig control, logging, digital communications,
satellite tracking, and rotator control.

Rig Control

Ham Radio Deluxe Rig Control provides rig control through a richly featured full screen interface and other products in the Ham Radio Deluxe Suite via a direct connection or TCP/IP remote access.

Logbook

Ham Radio Deluxe Logbook provides QSO logging, DX cluster connectivity, callsign lookup, awards tracking (with integration to LOTW, eQSL, and Ham Radio Deluxelog.net), and contesting. Microsoft Access and MySQL are support with strong features for backup and recovery.

Digital Master (DM-780)

DM-780 provides most popular sound card digital modes with direct integration to Ham Radio Deluxe Logbook.

Satellite Tracking
Ham Radio Deluxe Satellite Tracking provides satellite operations with rig control and Google Earth integration.
Rotator Ham Radio Deluxe Rotator provides control for 15 popular models of antenna rotators.
How It All Began

In early 2003 Peter PH1PH and Simon HB9DRV talked about developing a simple program to control the soon to be released ICOM IC-703. Maybe it was the beer, maybe the desire to give something back to the radio amateur community, however on June 6th, 2003 the first line of code was written, Ham Radio Deluxe (Ham Radio Deluxe) was born.
By late 2005 the number of registered users stood at 20,006 – quite an achievement in such a short time.

In late 2011, Simon sold HRD to Rick W4PC, Randy K?CBH, and Mike WA9PIE.

HRD Software, LLC announces the release of Ham Radio Deluxe 5.24.28 at http://www.ham-radio-deluxe.com.

Mike Carper, WA9PIE, said, “We’ve doubled the number of testers and the results reflect the level of effort they’ve put into it. The response we’re gotten with the ‘soft launches’ shows the long hours invested by our development team have made v5.24.28 the most solid release ever.”

Respected DXer, contester and DX himself, Jim Kehler – KH2D, has a background in software development and said, “This version is light years ahead of anything I’ve seen so far. It has a vastly improved cluster interface and a DXCC picker that is so accurate it will make your record keeping a breeze. The Beta team has outdone themselves with this release. I can’t wait to see what v6.0 looks like.”

Rick Ruhl, W4PC, said, “We’ve completed many v6.0 features and having a solid base to build them on was the most important thing. I’m always willing to push the release date later to make sure the program is solid. None of the purchasers of the pre-order 6.0 have lost any support time; in fact, the ones that bought in February got an extra 3-4 months of support for 5.x, not a bad deal for $59.95.”

HRD will also be sending out a newsletter in the next few weeks to keep the customers updated on the progress of v6.0.

This is the final release of the v5.x product that will continue to be available for free. The company has continued parallel development of v6.0 and intends to release it by the end of summer 2012.

Version 6.x will have many new features which include FSK support, a new QSL and awards tracking interface, improved worked status alerting, support for AR Cluster, label printing, and the Super Sweeper in Digital Master. Super Sweeper will allow multiple signals in multiple modes to be decoded in a single window. New radios and rotor controllers are already implemented in the 6.0 pre-beta the beta team has.

The discounted pre-buy price of $59.95 for v6.0 is being extended for 30 days from this press release. The price will then increase to $69.95 until the v6.0 product ships. This includes technical support for v5.2x. Those that have purchased or will purchase the v5.2x support will receive one year of support from the date of the v6.0 release. The retail price for v6.0 will be $79.95 when the v6.0 product ships.
