The HinzTec – Short Message Display (SMD) is an enhancement with Telemetry capability to the HinzTec – anyfrog and the SCS- Tracker*. A single cable connects the SMD to the anyfrog. SMD allows an overview of local APRS activity and your transmissions.
Four large, easy viewable softkeys make for a simple operation. Four different views, readily switchable inform about APRS – GPS – and Telemetry data, as well as Beacon statistics. The intelligent analysis in the integrated APRS decoder results in a neatly arranged presentation in the APRS view. The decoder handles beacon in plain text, compressed Base91 and Mic-E format.
In addition to the callsign and the informational text of the last received station, the direction, the distance and the locator are indicated. In the GPS view, information is presented to complement the actual position, like date, time, velocity, height, direction, temperature and supply voltage. The Telemetry view, displays all values with one glimpse. The number of received beacons and their repetition rate are presented in the statistical view. SMD closes the loop and provides communications, as APRS has been developed as a position and communication system. Whether you use anyfrog in a fixed or mobile application, you are going to receive automatically your personal messages via SMD. You can also define target groups e.g. a local ham association. The sender of a personal message is going to receive an acknowledgement, when a message is received and stored by the SMD.
The built in SMD – telemetry capability is very versatile. In addition to the two basic channels, the measurement of the operating voltage and temperature, six additional, free programmable channels for your applications and experiments are available. Each telemetry channel has a built in protection circuit and digitizes a voltage of 0 to 5V maximum with 10 bit resolution of 1024 values. Switch positions and analog voltages, available from many sensors can be presented with anyfrog in freely definable macros, to be transmitted in the status mode or info text.
Just like anyfrog, the SMD can be updated with the proven firmware update function at a later time.
